What's coming up...

What's coming up...

MEETING:
Our next meeting is Monday, March 4th.  I'm changing the meeting times to 6:00-7:30 to allow more time.  We're having a joint meeting with Kim Mehringer's troop.  Her troop will also be providing ice cream for the girls.  I don't have the list with me now...but whoever was assigned to bring snacks and drinks doesn't need to this meeting.  Can I also get some volunteers to stay at this meeting? Since it's going to be a large group and we have a tight schedule to fit everything in, things will run smoother the more adults we have.

COOKIES:
Please bring your cookie money to this meeting. I would really appreciate it if you could write one check to cover the balance of your cookie sales and make it out to Troop 64. If that's not possible that's fine. Please do not pay in cash or change! If someone has given you cash, please keep that and write a check for the amount.  It took forever last year to process everything because so many had cash.  I would appreciate it!

THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 3RD:
This is Girl Scout Sunday at St. Mary's Church in Ireland.  They will recognize some girl scouts at this mass. This is not a troop event and we don't need permission forms as parents will have to stay at the church during the mass.  If you want your daughter to participate...drop her off at the classroom where we have meetings around 8:45 A.M. The girls will walk over as a group for mass at 9:00.

ST. PATRICK'S PARADE:
The girls are welcome to walk in the parade again this year.  I will need as many parents as possible to walk along with us.  If you want your daughter to participate, we are meeting at the St. Mary's Parish Center under the carport like last year at 12:40 P.M. Please bring the permission slip, (link below) where tennis shoes and G.S. vest or tunic. If you can't walk with your daughter, you can pick her back up at the same place you dropped her off.

What to know for December

First, HUGE thanks to Rachel Boeglin, who was the October Meeting Mom.  The girls really enjoyed doing the craft you brought.

Our December meeting will be on Dec. 3rd.  This will also be our Christmas party.  Like last year, the girls would like to do a hair bow/hairband exchange.  If you want your daughter to participate, then have her bring a wrapped hair bow to this meeting.

Also, we will be shopping for a needy child on Dec. 10th.  If you would like to participate in this, we will be meeting at Wal-mart in front of Smart Styles at 6:30 P.M. I ask that you stay with your child the entire time because of how busy Wal-mart is this time of year.  This usually takes less than an hour.

The link below is a copy of a form that needs to be completed and given to Dessie Willis by Nov. 26th.  You may send it to her daughter Addison Willis through the school.  Thanks!!

Annual Permission Form Link

This is the link for the Annual Permission Form.  This form has to be completed every year, hence the name of the form.  I keep this form in a binder that goes with me to any event we participate in.  If your daughter is attending the Halloween Party, (info below this post) I will need this form completed and brought with your daughter to the event.  You may also send it to school with the fee for the Halloween Party and give it to Lilly Hulsman in Mrs. Kilion's class.

Parents,

SKATE PARTY: There is a skate party coming up for all girl scouts.  You can check out the flyer and permission form I have attached. If you are interested in your daughter attending this, please send the form and fee to Lilly at school by this Friday (4/13/2012.) or to me on Saturday at the bowling event.  I would have sent you this sooner but it somehow got into my spam mail and Kiersten Knies brought it to my attention this morning (thanks again, Kiersten.)

DAY CAMP: The link below has the information for Day Camp this summer at Camp Carnes.  I did this as a child and had so much fun!  I was excited to see that Daisies are invited, but then I saw the dates and realized that this is the same week I am taking my youth group to Purdue for National Youth Event. So, I am not 100% sure what to do.  Tonya Sander, I am assuming as long as we have VAP'd adults with our girls they can still participate, right? If that's the case, then the next step would be for VAP'd parents to volunteer to go. The number of adults we need depends on the number of girls that go.  If each of you could check out the link and let me know if you would be willing to volunteer, if you have been VAP'd and if you want your daughter to go so I can get figure things out from there.

NEXT MEETING: Our next meeting is on April 30th, 6:00-7:15 P.M.
At this meeting I will have out the pre-registration forms for next year.  If we complete and turn these in early, we get money for our troop and a patch.  So you are welcome to complete these at the next meeting instead of doing them in the fall.  The registration fee is $12, same as last year. This year, you can make checks out to troop #64 and then I will write a check from our account to council.  I also decided that I would not be doing cookies next year unless I have a "cookie mom." This is the person in charge of all the cookie stuff.  I am not going to lie, it can be time consuming.  I managed to juggle a job, three kids, coaching, leading a GS troop, and more, all while cookie season was going on and I had no idea what I was doing! I figured it out and everything got taken care of.  You are not going to be alone. You can ask for help.  I can show you what you need to know.  This person must be VAP'd! You can get these forms off of GSSI website. Anyway, I am wanting someone to step up this next year to fill this role.  Any takers? The parent that steps up is going to get their daughters registration fee paid for by the troop.  I know it's not much, but it's something.  Let me know if you are interested.  I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU WHO HELP ME OUT AT MEETINGS/ EVENTS! I CAN'T SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR ALL YOU DO!
Snacks: Leslie Jerger (Kate)
Drinks: Courtney Vaal (Katelyn)

LAST MEETING: Our last meeting is on May 21st same time as usual.
Snacks: Nobody is signed up (Does anyone want to sign up that hasn't?)
Drinks: Natalie Pryor (Emma)

I know this is a lot of information.  Let me know if you have questions.
