December

So we are all on the same page, this is what is going on this month:

Next meeting is on Monday, December 19th @ 6:00pm.

We will be having a hair bow exchange.  Each girl is to bring a hair bow wrapped to give to a friend.

Several of us went shopping this past Monday at Walmart and picked up several items for the girl who's name we were given by a GJCS social worker. We also got $45 in cash donations and another family who will be donating approx $30 toward this service project.  A huge thanks to all the parents who donated and helped out.

At our next meeting I will have the girls wrap up these items...that will be fun!

Remember that you can not start selling cookies until the 16th!!!

November/December Info

DATES TO REMEMBER:

Girls take cookie orders December 16-January 13
Turn in orders to troop January 13
Cookies will arrive February 6-10
Deliver cookies February 6- March 12
Money due to troop March 12
It is important that everyone participating meet all of these deadlines.

DAISY VEST/TUNIC INFO
Many of you have asked me about this. You can purchase either one at Seibert's or on the Girl Scout Website I have listed below. They are a couple dollars more if you purchase them at Seibert's. We have already earned two of our Daisy Petals and will be getting them soon.

SERVICE PROJECT:
Our Troop is participating in a service project. Heather Goodhue has given me a list of needs of a 3rd Grade girl in the GJCS district. I will be taking any monetary donations to help out with our purchases. Do not feel obligated! Also if any of you would rather donate an item or if any of you are “crafty” and can make something, that is fantastic. Just contact me if you want more info on the girl, her size or interests. I want to go to Walmart on Monday, December 5 at 6:00pm to get some of the items on the list. Any parent and girl wanting to go shopping is welcome. I ask that you don't drop off your daughter. I need for you to stay with her the entire time. Walmart is crazy this time of year! We will meet in front of the Smart Styles Salon at 6:00pm. It shouldn't take to long. This will be a good experience for the girls.

CHRISTMAS PARTY/ NEXT MEETING:
Our next meeting will be on December 19th. We will be having a Christmas party at this meeting. I have been contemplating on whether or not to have a gift exchange. I know we all have so much to do around Christmas and we spend so much money already. I thought if we do have an exchange we could do an ornament or hair bow exchange. Something small and inexpensive such as these items.

Snacks- Addison Chapman
Drinks- Abagalle Bromm

November 2011

Our next meeting is on Monday, Nov. 28th from 6:00-7:15 P.M.  Amanda Beck (Chloe) is signed up to bring snacks.  Deborah Giesler (Paige) is signed up to bring drinks.

It's cookie time!!! I ask that all the parents please come back to the meeting at 7:00 so I can hand out and go over the cookie sale stuff.  You are not allowed to start selling cookies until Dec. 18th.

If I sent you an email or text message reminding you to bring in the Cookie Agreement, then please try to remember to do so.  If you don't have one then make sure you sign one while you are at the meeting.

I picked up some things today to send up to Emily.  I got her two travel games, Hungry Hippo and Perfection. A huge doodle/ activity book with twist-able crayola crayons. A cute pink and red sock monkey. I also will be putting one of our group pictures from our Halloween party in a frame and sending that.  I plan on sending these items up this weekend with one of her family members.  If you want to make a card for her, please get it to Lilly no later than Thursday at school so I can give them the package Friday.  She got out of bed today and got to sit up.  She is feeling a little better and eating well today.  Everybody keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!!
Girls: Lets keep Emily in our thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks.  If you like, you are welcome to make her a card and give it to Lilly in Mrs. Vollmer's class and I will make sure that it gets up to Riley's.

Reminders

If you haven't noticed yet, we had to change our troop number to 64.  I changed the address to this blog to #64 instead of #108.

Make sure to read over the Troop #64 paper that is in your daughters folder.

The Halloween Carnival will be on Saturday, November 5th from 9-11:30 AM. This is a fun event for the girls and it is your choice on whether you want your daughter to participate. This will be at the 5th Street School Gym and Cafeteria.  The cost per girl is $5 (cost includes patch, craft, snack and treat bag.) You may also bring non-perishable food donations for a service project for Troop #198.  Costume is not required.  I need the Annual Permission Form and the small sheet filled out completely along with the $5 fee given to Lilly Hulsman in Mrs. Vollmer's class or mailed to me by Oct 11.

The next meeting is Oct 24.  The girls are welcome to wear their costumes.

I also forgot to talk about the Troop Fee of $30 at the parent meeting on Monday.  This fee is to buy supplies and patches for the girls. Last years Daisies collected $25 and I was told they ran out of money by the end of the year.  That is why I am asking for $30.  If anyone has a problem with paying this fee, please don't hesitate to talk to me and I we can work something out.

If you have any questions about any of this please call me

Welcome to Troop #64!!!

I wanted to welcome you all to Troop #64.  I look forward to being a leader this year.  I started this blog so parents have access to troop information at all times.  I will post updates, meeting times, and upcoming events.

For those of you who don't know me I will do a short bio. I am Andrea Hulsman. I live in Jasper with my husband, Jason and my three children, Jackson, Harrison and Lillian. I am the Youth Director/ Youth Minister at Trinity UCC in Jasper.  I am currently coaching two soccer teams and a member of the Jasper Youth Soccer Board. I enjoy traveling, reading, running and spending time with my family.  I participated in Girl Scouts for 12 years.  I was blessed with the best Girl Scout leader in the entire world, Nancy Habig.  She taught me so much through the years and I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't been in Girl Scouts and her as my leader.  We did so much as a troop, this is a list of just some of my experiences as a Girl Scout;

-leadership skills
-making lifetime friends
-camping
-canoing/water sports
-setting and achieving goals
-helping others in need
-seeing shows on broadway
-paging at the state capital
-two week trip to Colorado
-18 day trip to Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain.

There are literally to many things to list. Because of my fun experiences, I couldn't wait until I could be a part of it again. That is why I volunteered to be the leader of this troop.  I am so excited to have so many girls sign up and want to be a part of it too.  I want all the parents to keep in mind that I can't do it all on my own.  I will need help with activities to ensure all the girls enjoy their Daisy experience.  I have had one parent step forward to possibly be an assistant leader.  Some of the other parents have listed on their info forms that they would be interested in helping.  If anyone is interested in volunteering, I need for them to contact me.  There are forms that need to be completed in order for anyone to volunteer.  A background check is done by the council to ensure that all volunteers are safe to work with our children.  Please consider doing this and contacting me.

Our first meeting will be on September 26th at 6:00 PM. Meetings will be held at the building next to St. Mary's church where registration took place.and where the preschool classes are held.  We will meet in one of the classrooms.   I will get the schedule for the entire year posted soon.

I look forward to meeting all the girls and having a fun-filled year!

Andrea

I will not be posting any pictures of the girls on this blog.  I will never identify any of the girls on this blog.
